Blog Fall Intern ReAnn Hurd

November 4, 2022 by virginia.moerbe

This week on the farm I new planted trees. I got to go to Bloomers in Elgin and pick some out. I learned a lot about native flowers and trees for this area. I went around the farm planting new trees for future generations to enjoy.
Later on this week I closed off the gate to a pasture the north heard had access to this summer and I had to go around and find all the bulls. We had two calf’s born this week after the big storm. It’s extremely exciting getting to see the calf’s frolic in the field and enjoy the farm.

Partnership Opportunities

Stiles Farm can run multiple projects at once thanks to the demonstration and research plot model. If you or your company would like to partner with Stiles Farm, we are looking for partnerships in long term conservation tillage and cover crop research, precision agriculture technologies, innovations in beef cattle production, the economics of small acreage horticulture production in the blacklands, and use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) in agriculture production. For partnership ideas, contact Ryan Collett at (512) 898-2214 or rmcollett@ag.tamu.edu.
