Blog Micah Fischer Fall Intern

This week was the week I have been waiting for, the week we finally got to work our cattle. Monday and Tuesday we spent moving the herds into the pastures closest to the working pens so they would not have as far to go. Wednesday and Thursday were the days we actually did the cattle work. Ryan has some “real” cowboys that he hires when working the cows. They brought their horses and dogs which made it a lot easier to move the herd into the pasture where we were working. Everything went pretty smoothly and overall it was a great experience.

Partnership Opportunities

Stiles Farm can run multiple projects at once thanks to the demonstration and research plot model. If you or your company would like to partner with Stiles Farm, we are looking for partnerships in long term conservation tillage and cover crop research, precision agriculture technologies, innovations in beef cattle production, the economics of small acreage horticulture production in the blacklands, and use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) in agriculture production. For partnership ideas, contact Ryan Collett at (512) 898-2214 or rmcollett@ag.tamu.edu.
