Megan Finley Farm Inter Chickens have arrived

February 4, 2019 by virginia.moerbe

Last week was rather busy on the farm. The main herd of cattle was sorted, pulling off calves ready for weaning, some cull cows, and the bulls. Other than some heifers selected as replacements, all were shipped to the local auction to sell. They were picked up at the hatchery in the middle of the week and are doing well thus far. There are a dozen of assorted breeds that will be layers when they are grown, all heavy breed brown egg layers. There are also ten Cornish Rocks (meat birds).

Partnership Opportunities

Stiles Farm can run multiple projects at once thanks to the demonstration and research plot model. If you or your company would like to partner with Stiles Farm, we are looking for partnerships in long term conservation tillage and cover crop research, precision agriculture technologies, innovations in beef cattle production, the economics of small acreage horticulture production in the blacklands, and use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) in agriculture production. For partnership ideas, contact Ryan Collett at (512) 898-2214 or rmcollett@ag.tamu.edu.
